New Blu-Ray Release for Joe Bob Briggs' The Last Drive-in Due in October
According to Blu-Ray.com, horror streamer Shudder has plans for a Blu-ray release of Joe Bob Briggs' The Last Drive-in on October 14th of this year (2025). But that post is remarkably thin on details. I mean, I enjoy listening to Joe Bob go on about whatever film he's sharing (sometimes more than I enjoy the actual film), but my level of excitement for this release should reasonably be influenced by the film itself.
Right?
Well, the good news is that a poster known as MifuneFan found that info and shared the Amazon link, confirming that the expected release includes both Mayhem and Suitable Flesh.
I'm the sort of Shudder fan who likes having the service available, and enjoys the horror documentaries in particular, but who is frequently disappointed with the movies that are available, and honestly, with a lot of horror films in general. But I liked Mayhem, and I liked Suitable Flesh more. (Linda, check your film journal! Suitable Flesh is in there!) The former, Linda and I watched mostly for Steven Yeun. The latter, for Barbara Crampton. Both are films that I would watch again, and that sentiment becomes even more true with the addition of Joe Bob's commentary. Release it just in time for me to get my Halloween on, and well! That's a wish list item waiting to happen!
That said, I'd prefer to not buy it through Amazon.
Luckily, Barnes & Noble has both the DVD and the Blu-ray available for pre-order, even if the "little guy" in this retail competition didn't provide much detail.
What say you, Linda? I know you like Joe Bob, and I know you'd watch Mayhem again. But would you watch Suitable Flesh again, too? And would we watch either or both enough to justify adding this release to our collection?
