Margaret Atwood's Memoir (Of Sorts) Came Today
Margaret Atwood's new book, Book of Lives: A Memoir of Sorts, in in my hands and ready to be read!

Having watched–and been delighted by–Margaret Atwood's MasterClass, I'm excited to dig into her memoir (of sorts). But I refuse to start reading the new Atwood book until I can read it steadily, so I have to finish reading Stephen King's The Shining first. That book is already a part of my What I'm Reading in November 2025 post, and I'm 80-some percent through the novel via a combination of audio book and e-book.

Meanwhile, I've only had a few minutes to get a little weepy, snap photos of Book of Lives, and look the fresh release over.

Here are a few important details:

  • The book is indexed, as all good non-fiction books should be. The index begins on page 575 in the hardcover edition and runs to page 599.
  • A chronological list of Atwood's books takes up pages 573 and 574.
  • The chapters are titled, which is useful when a reader wants to refer back to a particular passage.
  • "Becoming an Entomologist", a piece written by Margaret's father, Carl, and transcribed by her brother, Harold, can be found on page 555.
  • I'm tickled with the endpapers! Love those illustrations!
  • I'm extra-tickled that I sprung for a signed copy!
